Embsay with Eastby Village Institute offers a warm, relaxed and characterful setting for weddings and wedding celebrations at the heart of a beautiful historic Yorkshire village. Whether you are planning a wedding breakfast following a church ceremony, or an informal celebration with family and friends, the Institute provides the space, flexibility and friendly local support to help you create a day that feels truly like yours.
No two weddings are the same. Our main hall is ideal for couples looking for a venue they can style in their own way, choose their own suppliers and shape around their plans: simple and elegant or colourful and creative. With a little imagination, the main hall can be transformed into a welcoming and memorable wedding space that feels far from ordinary.
Flexible setup
The main hall can seat up to 80 guests and is equipped with 130 chairs plus tables of two different sizes. Layouts can be arranged to suit your celebration and our team can help prepare the space to your requirements
During the day the hall is naturally light & airy thanks to its floor to ceiling-height windows. As the celebration moves into the evening the heavy curtains can be drawn for a more intimate, party-ready atmosphere, enhanced by our disco lights and multi-coloured LEDs or any decorative lighting that you may wish to bring to personalise the space.
Well-equipped
You are very welcome to bring your own entertainment including DJs and live bands. The hall has numerous electrical sockets for their equipment and a stage for performances. you are welcome to use our modern in-house p.a. system with microphones and bluetooth connections to ensure that your music and speeches sound just right.
Food and drink can be arranged in whatever way suits you best. The modern, well equipped kitchen is included in the package, allowing you to prepare your own food or to give your chosen external caterer everything they need to deliver your wedding meal smoothly. The adjoining supper room, with direct access from both the kitchen and the main hall, works well as a buffet area, food preparation space or drinks station, helping service run easily and efficiently.
The supper room can also be used as a quiet space away from themain celebration, or as a bar area (subject to you obtaining the necessary alcohol licence and paying the Institute’s bar fee. Alternatively, a bar could be set up in the reception foyer or in the hall itself. The local pub, the Elm Tree Inn, can also set up a bar for you in the hall using their own license.
